Prior to your child’s admission, parents must make sure if the program meets their need. Below is a brief profile of our Center program in each of our classrooms.
Westgate Child Center has been in operation for over 30 years now. The purpose of the program is to provide - a full day care, as well as impart ‘Pre-school’ education to children of ages 2 .5 to 5years, and
‘Before & after’ school care for school age children of ages 5+ to 12 years.

"Pooh Land"- (for ages 2.5 to 4 years) has about 24 children with six teachers, thus maintaining an excellent child teacher ratio. Qualified and experienced staff is readily available and responsive to children’s needs, interacting frequently and showing affection, interest and respect.
The curriculum introduced are age appropriate – vocabulary, numbers, shapes, colors, art/craft activities are planned around themes for each week. Each child proceeds at his /her own pace. Activities change every half hour, keeping in mind the attention span of the age group.
Children enjoy hands on experience on computer, library time, music, pre-fit exercise and introduction to Spanish. The classroom is bright, spacious and separated into different areas of activity. Educational toys and games are available at their reach. Children are relaxed, happy and involved in play, while music and sweet chatter fill the air.
Weather permitting, all groups play outdoors daily – morning and afternoon.

"Rainbow Room"- (Pre-Kindergarten class for ages 4 to 5+ years) has about 24 children with six teachers.
The teachers are qualified and experienced. The staff encourages independence in children, while using positive approach to help children behave constructively. Expectations are developmentally appropriate.
The curriculum is age appropriate and planned around themes, for each week. Activities change every half hour. Children are encouraged to do group projects, enjoy hands on computer, music, library time, pre-fit exercise and Spanish, besides art/craft, vocabulary, numbers etc. Children are encouraged but not forced to read and write at their own pace. The daily schedule provides for alternating periods of quiet and active play. Outdoor play is mandatory and part of the daily activity – weather permitting.
The classroom is bright, clean, organized into different areas of activity, with educational toys and material at reach of children. At any given time, the children are relaxed, happy, involved in play and other activities.

"The Little League Room"- (Before/After school program for ages 5+ to 12 years)
This program is designed to interest and challenge the school age children in a 'club - like' environment. Children are 'bused' to Kent Garden Elem.school after breakfast at 8:15 am. Upon their return from school at 3:15 pm. they have snack, outdoor play and participate in the club activities and homework group.
The activities center around arts, crafts, group sports, appropriate games and toys, in addition to field trips. Irrespective of what the 'area school' may be, children from Westgate Child Center can attend Kent Garden Elem. School. The Kindergarten children attend the afternoon session at Kent Gardens Elem. school.
Transportation to and from from Kent Garden Elem. School is available.
